Accredited IQA Role

The Accredited Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) is responsible for the systematic monitoring, evaluation, and enhancement of assessment practices to ensure that all assessors apply qualification standards fairly, consistently, and in full compliance with approved policies and procedures.

Working in close alignment with ICTQual AB UK Ltd. quality assurance requirements, Accredited IQAs play a vital role in supporting continuous improvement, standardisation, and assessor development. Through robust internal verification processes, they help ensure that all assessment decisions are valid, reliable, evidence-based, and equitable, thereby safeguarding learner interests and maintaining the international credibility of ICTQual AB qualifications.

Key Responsibilities of an Accredited IQA

As an Accredited Internal Quality Assurer (IQA), you will be entrusted with safeguarding the quality, consistency, and integrity of assessment decisions across all approved programmes.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Systematically monitoring, sampling, and reviewing assessment decisions to ensure they are fair, valid, reliable, and consistently applied across assessors and centres.
  • Ensuring full compliance with ICTQual AB assessment, internal quality assurance, and regulatory policies and procedures, maintaining alignment with international quality assurance frameworks.
  • Providing clear, professional, and developmental feedback to assessors, supporting standardisation and continuous improvement in assessment practice.
  • Leading and contributing to assessor standardisation activities, ensuring consistent interpretation and application of assessment criteria.
  • Identifying, managing, and addressing risks, gaps, or non-conformities in assessment delivery and decision-making.
  • Maintaining comprehensive and accurate IQA records, reports, and sampling plans in accordance with audit, monitoring, and quality assurance requirements.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives, including assessor development, quality reviews, and corrective or preventive actions.
  • Preparing assessors and approved centres for External Quality Assurance (EQA) activities, facilitating effective engagement with external verifiers and auditors where applicable.

Eligibility & Entry Requirements

To be considered for Accredited Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) status, applicants must demonstrate appropriate qualifications, professional experience, and quality-assurance competence in line with internationally recognised standards.

Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • Hold relevant internationally recognised qualifications in assessment, internal quality assurance, education, training, or a closely related professional discipline.
  • Possess IQA-specific or verifier qualifications (such as Internal Quality Assurance, Internal Verification, or equivalent awards), which are highly desirable and strongly preferred.

Professional Experience

Applicants must have:

  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience in assessment, training delivery, internal quality assurance, verification, or related industry practice.
  • Demonstrated experience in monitoring assessment decisions, supporting assessor standardisation, and ensuring consistency in the application of assessment criteria.

Professional Competence

Applicants must be able to demonstrate:

  • A strong working knowledge of assessment principles, quality assurance systems, and internal verification processes.
  • The ability to apply standards objectively, manage corrective and preventive actions, and support continuous quality improvement.
  • A clear commitment to ethical practice, impartiality, confidentiality, and continuous professional development.

How the Accredited IQA Approval Process Works

The Accredited Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) approval process is designed to be transparent, robust, and supportive, ensuring that all approved IQAs meet the required professional, ethical, and quality assurance standards expected by ICTQual AB.

Applicants begin by completing the Accredited IQA application form, expressing their interest and outlining their qualifications, professional experience, and areas of expertise.

Applicants are required to submit relevant supporting documentation, including:

  • Details of previous IQA, verification, or quality management roles (where applicable)
  • Copies of internationally recognised qualifications
  • Evidence of professional experience in assessment and quality assurance

ICTQual AB conducts a comprehensive review of the application to verify:

  • Eligibility against entry requirements
  • Alignment with ICTQual AB quality assurance standards
  • Professional competence and suitability for the IQA role

Additional clarification or discussion may be requested during this stage.

Where required, applicants may undergo further verification, which may include:

  • Confirmation of understanding of internal quality assurance principles
  • Professional interviews or discussions
  • Review of IQA experience or sample quality documentation

Following successful evaluation, applicants are formally notified of the approval decision. Successful candidates are granted Accredited IQA status.

Approved IQAs receive:

  • Orientation on roles, responsibilities, and ongoing quality expectations
  • Official confirmation of Accredited IQA status
  • Access to ICTQual AB quality guidance, policies, and procedures

Accredited IQAs are subject to ongoing monitoring to ensure continued compliance with quality standards and are encouraged to engage in continuous professional development (CPD) to maintain best practice.
